Ingredients
- 1/2 C. butter or bacon fat
- 1/4 C. chopped onions
- 1/4 C. sugar
- 3 lb. red cabbage (shredded)
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 apple (peeled & sliced)
- 1/2 C. water or soup stock
- 1 T. flour
- 1/2 C. red wine
- 3 T. vinegar
Directions
- Melt fat. Fry onion and sugar. Add cabbage, salt, apple, and water or soup broth.
- Cook 30 minutes on low to medium heat, or until soft.
- Blend in flour; add wine, vinegar, and more broth or water if necessary.
- Serves 7 – 8 persons.
