Crockpot Apple Butter

Ingredients

  • 6 pounds of apples
  • 1/2 C. brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp. ground cloves
  • juice of 1 lemon

Directions

  • Wash the unpeeled apples and remove cores, and seeds. Cut into quarters (do not remove peels).
  • Place the apple quarters in slow cooker (do not add water). Cook on low for 8 – 12 hours.
  • Remove the fruit and puree in a blender. Return the pureed apples to the slow cooker.
  • Add the brown sugar, (or none if you prefer). Add the remaining ingredients.
  • Stir and cook on low for 8 – 12 hours. If desired, use your preferred canning method to preserve.
