Oatmeal Crispies



3/4 C. lard or vegetable shortening
1 C. dark brown sugar
1/2 C. granulated sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 C. sifted flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
3 C. quick-cooking oatmeal
1/2 C. chopped nuts

Cream lard with both kinds of sugar. Add beaten egg and vanilla. Sift flour, salt and soda. Stir into creamed mixture. Add oatmeal and nuts; blend thoroughly. Drop from a teaspoon onto a cookie sheet and bake from 8 to 10 minutes at 350F.
